I still remember the day I helped Amadou, my colleague from the village who had some difficulties in mathematics.
It was during the holidays and we had a two weeks stay in my father’s village. One day Amadou, a 5th grade student and the most mischievous child in the family, surprisingly asked me, in his greater wisdom, to help him solve some math exercises that he did not understand. As mathematics can be difficult to understand, I used all my knowledge and slowly gave Amadou all the necessary explanations. After a few lessons, he understood the exercises and realized that mathematics needs skill and patience to be done correctly. Amadou finally decided to take an example from me and promised to remain calm in the family and to forever be diligent when exercising mathematics.
